Laxmi Narain Temple

A modern architectural sensation, Birla Mandir is a very famous and attractive tourist’s destination located in the southern part of Jaipur. The enormous temple was built during the year 1988, by Birla Group of Industries, well-known name in the corporate sector of India.The presiding deities here are Vishnu (One of the Hindu Trilogy Gods) called Narayan and his consort Lakshmi Goddess of wealth and good fortune. Due to this reason, Birla Temple is also known as Laxmi Narayan Temple.

The Birla Mandir is situated just below the renowned Moti Dungri Fort. Erected with a modern approach, Laxmi Narayan Mandir sprawls in the wide area of Jaipur. Standing on a raised platform, at the footsteps of the Moti Dungri Hil Birla Mandir is constructed the premium quality of white marble. Birla Temple of Jaipur looks stunning, when it is brightly lit in the night. Birla Mandir, in pure white marble, dominates the skyline of southern part of Jaipur.

Three different approaches to the religion are depicted by the three colossal domes of the temple. The exterior of the temple is beautifully decorated by the carved sculptures of various mythological themes and images of saints.

The Temple can be entered by taking a flight of marble steps. The attractive stained windows glass windows of the temple depict scenes from Hindu Mythology. Inside the shrine, the idols have a majestic appeal about them. These remarkable idols are sculpted beautifully and appear, as if, they would address the onlooker in no time at all.

The idols of Lord Vishnu and his consort, Lakshmi attract the attention, being made out from one piece of marble. The images of the deities are placed in the sanctum sanctorum. Besides all other idols, the idol of Ganesha is a magnum opus that appears almost-transparent. The temple also portrays great historical achievers, philosophers and religious saints such as Socrates, Zarathustra, Christ, Buddha, and Confucius.

The exterior walls of the temple are imprinted with lavish sculptures, imbibed from the mythological themes, whereas the interiors boast of a large marble panel rendering mythological events.

Every year during Janmasthami, the temple gets decorated with flowers, artificial lights giving spectular look to the monuments something beyond one's imagination, especially at night the temple looks magnificent in the white marble.

The Birla Temple has a museum too, which showcases the ancestral valuables of the Birla family. The blossoming green gardens of the complex add to the beauty of this spectacular temple.
